EVE LOM is synonymous with luxury skincare. Her range of products is so personally cultivated to ensure that each skin concern is targeted. Famous for her world class facials and infamous cleanser, I had to see what the cuticle cream had to offer.

Rich and creamy in texture a little goes a long way. The pale blue oil rich cream formula instantly sinks into my dry cuticle area and nail bed leaving my nails healthy looking and shiny. After 4 applications I can see a noticeable improvement in my nails and cuticles. All dryness is gone and splitting and chipping is less.

I think I would be bold enough to say that this tiny jar of creaminess is the best cuticle product I have ever used. Can be used on sensitive dry patches and worked wonders on my toes. I recommend this product particularly for people who suffer from dry cuticles or mature hands. Prices at £16.00 it’s a worthwhile investment.

I am totally in love with Henry Holland because he is all about colour and point. I have been inspired by his SS13 Nails…

And so have created the marbled bold colour look using Maybeline Color Show Nail Polis in fuchsia fever, electric yellow and orange attack. Working with the polish whilst wet. I used a toothpick to blend and swirl the colours together.

And Viola…..

Nars is a brand that’s a staple in any makeup artists kit. So we were very excited to get our hands on some of the amazing new shades from the Pierre Hardy for Nars Collection. The nail duos have been carefully paired to compliment each other or be worn separately. At £22 for a pair and come beautifully packaged in a miniature shoe box with dust bag.

This duo is Sharks is my favourite.

CLARINS BB SKIN PERFECTING CREAM…Another BB cream? but how does it fair?

I’m pretty much obsessed with skin and I’m forever on the hunt for skincare and makeup products that will give me and my clients a beautiful complexion whilst still looking like skin. Makeup trends over the past few years have dictated fresh, healthy and radiant skin, that doesn’t look like it has makeup on it. With this in mind, it’s understandable that BB Creams have taken off and are now literally everywhere. Luxury and mass market brands alike have developed BB creams and now Clarins have added to the list with their BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF25…so how does this cream fair in the large and every growing category of Beauty Balms.

Available in 3 colours, of light, medium and dark, this cream promises to protect, repair and even out the complexion. As you would expect the cream is light in texture and when applied to skin, gives a lovely light coverage that has radiance to give skin a healthy looking glow. It doesn’t have shimmer or iridescence but the glow is more finely reflective pigments, allowing the skin look matte but with a natural light reflection.

The biggest problem I have with this cream, is that I was advised by the beauty advisor to get a medium for my slightly tanned skin. Being in a rush I didn’t try it and I should have known better as when I got home eager to try my new purchase I discovered it was way too dark, in fact it gave my face a deep red tone, that was so off, I couldn’t make it work for me and had to take it off immediately. I found this quite surprising as BB Creams always tend to gives a sheer coverage. I should have got a light, but this also makes me think if you are particularly pale, I should imagine the light version could also be too dark. Anyway, the colour is wrong and I’m now going to have to take it back, but the lesson is to always try skin products on and don’t just go off what the advisors suggest…as a makeup artist I should have definitely known better!!!

However, I don’t want to totally knock this product, I can imagine if the colour was right for you, it would be great. Forgetting about the major colour mishap for a moment, I could see it evened out my skin and it gave my skin a soft comfortable feel, thanks to it containing kiwi, katafray and hyaluronic acid which give vitally and hydration.

MARY KATRANTZOU’S BLUE EYE

Catwalk makeup at Mary Katrantzou is always edgy and graphic and the beauty look for her Spring Summer 13 show was of course no exception. This look was likely to have been created with a gel or liquid liner, but I’m going to show you how to use a pencil and eyeshadow for a slightly softer look, which is easier to create, the main element to this makeup is the shape you create on the lid.

STEP 1

Apply pencil the entire eyelid, stopping at the crease and the outer edge of the eye.

STEP 2

Still using the pencil, pull out from the outer corner and then join at the top with the rest of the colour to create a slightly domed upper and graphic wing.

STEP 3

With pencil fill in the eye, so you have a solid shape. Then using a small but firm eyeshadow apply eyeshadow on top of the lid, so you get intense colour. I used MAC’s Deep Truth.

STEP 4

With a soft fluffy brush, blend the outer edges so you get a softer diffused look. I brushed a very small amount of bronzer to the top of the eye, to give the blue some warmth and to bring out the colours a little more. Finish with mascara.

AN ALTERNATIVE…would be to use a liquid eyeliner, using the same technique minus the blending of course! You can see from the below pictures its a lot stronger, dramatic look.

SUMMER MAKEUP TREND: MINIMALISM

Minimal makeup was all over the catwalks for Spring Summer, continuing on from the past fair few seasons. If you’re not into rocking different looks or bold colours than this is definitely the trend for you. Honed, clean and fresh everybody looks good with this kind of makeup, where you are enhancing naturally what you have. Less is definitely more, this is all about makeup that’s applied to look like you’re not wearing any.

JILL SANDER

Perfected matt skin is highlighted delicately with some warmth added to the eyes softly

PUCCI

Love this look! skin is radiant and the colour is kept warm for beautifully delicate sun-kissed look.

RODARTE

Minimalist and androgynous. This look is all about skin, which is real and natural creating the perfect no makeup look.

VERA WANG

Pretty but will an element of the wild. Models had beautiful glowing skin, with just some warm skin tones colours add o give the face some definition.

ALEXANDER WANG

Again like Rodarte, this is look has a futuristic and androgynous feel, sticky tape is optional though!

Here is a simple way to wear pastel nails without being too girly. Paint 3 or 4 different colours in stripes down each nail. Then when nearly dry zig zag a black nail art pen over the joins. Then randomly add black dots.
